Synchronized Swimming is an Olympic and collegiate sport that

combines the skills of swimming, gymnastics, diving and dance. Synchronized swimmers execute precision movements in the

water which require both incredible athleticism and artistic flair.

  Carolina Synchro

   At Huntersville Family Fitness & Aquatics, your swimmer

   will learn basic synchronized swimming skills in a fun and

   supportive environment. Our goal is for swimmers of all

   levels to:

 

          • Improve strength, endurance, power, flexibility, body control and grace.
          • Learn to count and interpret different types of music.
          • Develop creativity and confidence.
          • Understand the value of respect, commitment and hard work.
          • Practice teamwork while learning the ultimate team sport!

Programs

Sea Stars Beginning Class and Camps:

These beginning level classes or camps are for swimmers ages 6 - 16 years of age who have never done synchronized swimming or are working on the basic skills. Participants learn the fundamentals of synchro, including sculling, kicking, introductory figures and a routine. Swimmers must be able to swim 25 yards freestyle, tread water for 30 seconds and be deep water safe. Participants who complete the Sea Stars Basic class are invited to join either the Sea Stars Recreational Team or the Angelfish Competitive Team.

Sea Stars Recreational Team:

Participants in the Sea Stars program will continue to build on their basic synchronized swimming skills while being part of a team and having fun. Sea Stars can participate in the annual Showcase and possibly have exhibitions or local competitions.

Angelfish Competitive Team:

Swimmers who complete the Sea Stars Basic class can also choose to participate as a member of the Angelfish Novice/Intermediate team.

Novice - This level is for athletes 12 and under who are learning the novice level skills, including basic figure and technical routine skills. Swimmers at this level have the option for participating in 2-3 novice level competitions in the Association or Region in the 10 & under or 11-12 age groups. Novice group meets two times a week.

Intermediate - This level competes in several Association or Regional meets a year in the following age groups: 10 & under, 11-12, 13-15, and 16-19. The Intermediate level figures and technical routines are more advanced than the novice level. Intermediate group practices 2-3 times per week.

Participants in both programs can earn a sterling silver charm for achieving specific skills at 5 different levels.

Coach: Anne Schulte

Anne has over seven years of coaching experience including the Lake Norman YMCA, the Swiss Junior National Team, and figure coach for the Ohio State University. As a swimmer, she competed with the Ohio State University varsity team for 4 years and the US National Team II for 3 years, earning 5 International and 11 National medals. Anne graduated cum laude from the Ohio State University and has an MBA from Georgetown University, After pursuing a career in consulting, she is focusing on raising her two daughters and building a synchronized swimming program in North Carolina.

Coach: Cassidy Ramage

Cassidy has been a full-time coach with the Pirouettes of Texas since 2006 and a part-time coach since 2002. She has over 8 years of part and full-time coaching experience. She swam for Stanford University, the Riverside Aquettes and the Pirouettes of Texas. She was also a member of the USA Jr. National Team in 2002, competing in the Jr. World Championships.
